Chalk Pastel drawing on Watercolor paper. Background was colored in first then outlines of pumpkins were drawn in with yellow chalk pastel. Black cats were added last.
Chalk Pastel Design Project on Watercolor paper. Students moved different objects around to create a pleasing composition. They simply traced around the objects and then filled in areas with chalks. They were limited to 5 colors or less.
This Chalk Pastel drawing was first sketched in lightly with graphite pencil. We discussed the horizon line, perspective and how the sun reflects on the water and how to achieve that look.
White and black charcoal pencil on gray paper. Some shading was done with a blending tool.
Colored pencil on white paper. I emphasized the layering of colors to achieve the finished look. Different layers were also burnished.
Graphite and Charcoal drawing on white paper. We first drew the frog step by step in graphite pencil. Those lines were darkened in with the Ebony pencil and then areas were shaded with charcoal pencil and then blended either with our finger tip or the stump.
Beginner and Intermediate
Black Charcoal on white paper. First we drew step by step with graphite pencil. Lines were darkened in with an ebony pencil. Lastly areas were darkened in with a charcoal pencil. Shading in larger areas is done with our fingers.
Color Wheel Project. By letting the kids trace around their hands, we created the primary, secondary and tertiary colors on a color wheel. Overlapping of fingers and circles was very important. I emphasized good control of colored pencils.
Chalk Pastel. The pumpkin shape was first free hand drawn with a Yellow chalk pastel. The background color (without the design) was put in next. Then we turned our focus to coloring in the pumpkin including shadows and highlights. Lastly the designs were added in the background. Background colors and designs were the child's choosing.
Chalk Pastel on watercolor paper. Colors, shading and movement in sky were emphasized to give this painting drama.
Graphite and Charcoal pencil drawing. Dog was first drawn using the grid method. Shading and highlighting were emphasized.
Colored pencil drawing on white paper. We drew this step by step starting with the curved line on the mouse's right side. We used this as a reference point to add other features. Control of colored pencils was emphasized.
